Exploring a New Homeschool Hybrid Option for Fall 2027
We’re excited to share that Central Valley Homeschool Co-op is beginning to develop a possible new option for homeschooling families: a small 7th–12th grade homeschool hybrid pilot program for Fall 2027.
Since 2019, CVHSC has been serving homeschooling families through our parent-led co-op community. As we’ve listened to the needs of the families we serve and the broader homeschool community, we’ve seen a need for additional academic support and community for older homeschool students while still allowing parents to remain actively involved in directing their children’s education.
This potential hybrid program would be an extension of the work we already do through CVHSC, while offering a different format from our current co-op.
What We’re Exploring
The initial concept is a one-day-per-week, drop-off learning option on Wednesdays for students in grades 7–12.
Students would have the opportunity to receive:
- Structured academic instruction
- Hands-on learning and labs
- Mentorship
- Community with other homeschool students
- Additional academic support
Parents would continue to direct and oversee their children’s homeschooling throughout the rest of the week. The goal is to provide meaningful academic support while maintaining the parent-directed nature of homeschooling.
The hybrid would be a Christian program, and families participating would agree to the CVHSC Statement of Faith, just as they do for our current co-op.
Our existing co-op programs and locations will continue as they are. The hybrid pilot would be an additional option, not a replacement for our current co-op.
Homeschool Support
We also want to help make the administrative side of homeschooling a little easier.
Enrolled families will receive support with homeschool record-keeping and student transcripts, while parents remain responsible for directing their student’s homeschool education.
Our goal is to provide families with both meaningful academic support and practical resources as they navigate the middle and high school years.
Building Our Teacher Team
We’re excited to already have teachers committed to helping us develop the pilot, including teachers for Science/Labs and Writing/ELA.
We are continuing to build the team and are currently looking for teachers interested in teaching:
- Math
- Spanish (or another foreign language)
- History/Social Studies
Our teachers will be an important part of shaping what this program becomes. We want to work together to determine the classes, curriculum approach, hands-on opportunities, and overall structure that will best serve students in a once-a-week hybrid model.
Teachers will be compensated for their time, with specific compensation details being worked out as the program develops.
What Comes Next?
We’ll soon be bringing together the teachers who have committed to the pilot to begin working through the details and developing the vision for the program.
We’ll be looking at things such as:
- Course offerings
- Curriculum and learning expectations
- What students will complete during the Wednesday program and at home
- Hands-on learning opportunities
- The overall Wednesday schedule
- Student and teacher expectations
- Program costs and materials
- Homeschool record-keeping and transcript support
We’re intentionally taking the time to build this thoughtfully rather than rushing to fill in the details before we have the right people and ideas in place.
If we move forward with the pilot, we anticipate opening enrollment in Spring 2027 for Fall 2027.
